Pearl — Party of One

Pearl dresses for the occasion, even when there isn’t one.

She wears her good clothes to water the plants, puts on lipstick to take out the recycling and firmly believes that Tuesday is reason enough for a little glamour.

Her house is full of things collected over a lifetime. Mismatched glasses, strange little paintings, bowls nobody is allowed to eat cereal from and a cupboard containing enough beautiful napkins to cater a royal wedding.

Pearl has perfected the art of enjoying her own company. She makes a proper pot of tea, puts on a record and sits by the window as though the afternoon were an event she had been looking forward to all week.

She isn’t waiting for anything.

Pearl is already having a lovely time.
