The Crumple Bowl

There is something quietly arresting about this bowl — the way its rim folds and creases like a sheet of paper caught mid-thought, paused before it could be smoothed. Hand-built in speckled stoneware and finished in a matte white glaze, it carries the marks of making: the faint coil lines along the body, the flecks of grog beneath the surface, the edge that was shaped by hand and left that way.

At approximately 3.5” tall and 6” across, it is the right size for fruit, for keys, for the small things that need a place to land. It holds its own on a shelf just as easily — more sculpture than vessel, depending on the light.

No two are alike. That is the point.
